Customizing and Tailoring Self-Care Behaviors for Symptom Management
Among Cancer Patients.
Given CW, Given B, Walther Cancer Institute, 07/01/2004 to 06/302005, $30,000.

This study draws on information collected from two completed trials (one funded by NCI and a smaller pilot study funded by the Behavioral Cooperative Oncology Group (BCOG) of the Mary Margaret Walther Program of the Walther Cancer Institute). This project will identify which patients and which symptoms respond better to treatment by self-care behaviors. We will address such questions as: are self-care behaviors more effective for certain numbers or types of symptoms? Do characteristics of the patient (age, gender, site or stage of cancer, treatment regimen, and caregiver involvement) affect responses to self-care behavior interventions?
