Dementia and its consequences present an increasingly difficult set of problems for older adults, their families and friends, and for the health care professionals who provide their care. This initiative will address this growing threat to the public health by strengthening an existing unfunded consortium (GECM, the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University, and the Michigan Dementia Coalition) and by using the talents of the consortium members to educate primary care physicians about dementia.
