Dawn Springer, MD, is first woman to be named Sparrow Chief of Staff-Elect

Dawn E. Springer, MD, has been named Sparrow Chief of Staff-Elect. She is the first woman to have earned that distinction.

Dr. Springer attended medical school at the University of Michigan (1961-62), receiving her medical doctorate from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (1977). She opened her practice, Temple Street Family Practice in Mason, after completing her residency with the Sparrow Hospital Family Residency Program in 1980.

Dr. Springer is an American Board of Family Practice Diplomate and a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Michigan Academy of Family Practice, American Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, Capitol Area Chapter of the MAFP Board of Directors, Ingham County Medical Society and Michigan State Medical Society.

She also serves on the MSU College of Human Medicine Alumni Board, Sparrow Health System Board of Directors, Physicians Health Plan of Mid-Michigan Board of Directors, American Physicians Assurance Corporation, and is recognized as a Fellow by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

In addition, she has served as an Associate Clinical Professor in the MSU Department of Family Practice since 1981. Dr. Springer also is a preceptor for medical students from MSU, University of Michigan and Wayne State University and co-director and founder of the American Russian Medical Exchange.

Dr. Springer and her husband, Dale, reside in East Lansing.
